Our School
Hanby Middle School, located in the development
of Chalfonte in North Wilmington, has a population of approximately 700 seventh
and eighth grade students that closely reflects the diverse nature of our
society. Hanby comprises approximately 23 acres of residential land and
provides a wonderful site for the education of its students. The school houses
42 classroom settings, two large gymnasiums, a large cafeteria (seating 245
students with an auxiliary cafeteria with salad bar and deli/sandwich line), an
auditorium with seating for 450 students, an instrumental music room, vocal
music room, two family and consumer science suites with classroom instruction
areas, two art rooms, two technology education rooms, a twenty-five station
computer lab, and a large well-equipped library. Our school services a wide
range of student academic abilities, from "honors" or advanced placement to
self-contained special education. Location You can reach Hanby Middle School by either enter through Grubb Road (turn onto Weatherton Drive, make a right onto Berwyn Road) or Silverside Road (turn onto Kingman Drive).
